The five-year, $400 million investment will create 500 jobs.

Plastic decorative extruder Trex Co. Inc. announced plans to invest USD 400 million to build a new production base in Little Rock, Arkansas.

The five-year project will create 500 jobs; upon completion, the Little Rock plant will become Trex's third manufacturing plant in the United States

Trex President and CEO Bryan Fairbanks said in a statement on October 26: "This new website not only represents a strategic investment in the future of our company, but also a strategic investment in the future success of our valuable channel partners. "As the outdoor lifestyle category continues to show strong momentum and our success to date in the wood flooring market conversion share, it is time to further expand our production capacity so that we can effectively meet future customer needs."

Trex officials stated that Little Rock has become the “best choice” for the new plant because it is close to basic raw materials, has a strong pool of qualified and skilled labor, close to the main growth area for wood processing, and close to major transportation hubs currently targeted by Trex in Virginia. Central U.S. customers served by existing facilities in the states and Nevada.

Trex is headquartered in Winchester, Virginia, and opened its first production line in 1993. The company currently has approximately 1,700 employees worldwide. Products are available in more than 6,700 retail stores in 40 countries.
