Today at Adobe MAX 2021, Adobe announced a major update of Photoshop. The object selection tool now allows you to hover over the object you want to select in the image and click to select it. The new color transfer function uses the image palette and can be easily applied to different images. You can now copy and paste vector shapes from Adobe Illustrator, such as rectangles, polygons, circles, lines, and compound paths in Photoshop. Read all the new features below.

The object selection tool has been significantly improved. Now, just hover the mouse over the object you want to select in the image and click to select it.

Don’t miss this new menu item, it will increase your selection and blocking speed. We have added this huge time saving to the layer to take advantage of the intelligence of the object selection tool. Choose "Layer"> "Mask All Objects" to easily generate masks for all objects detected in the layer with one click.

Do you remember the neural filter function we released last year. Neural Filter is a workspace in Photoshop that introduces new non-destructive filters that use Sensei AI machine learning to help you explore ideas in seconds.

We took many things that Photoshop did well and started to improve them by using machine learning to reduce complex workflows to one click or a few sliders. You can find a fast-growing and improved library of art and repair filters in this workspace, which will speed up part of your workflow. Although they may not always produce the final result you need, they will save your ideation time or bring you closer to the look you want. Of course, you can use all the tools in Photoshop to make final adjustments.

In the neural filter, we introduced the concept of a "beta" filter, as well as a new feedback tool, allowing customers to tell us how the results meet their creative intent. We hope you try these featured filters and Beta filters on your images, and share your feedback to improve Photoshop. Beta filters may work well on some types of images, but not work well on others, but this is just the beginning, and these filters will improve with input.

Today, we will release three new beta filters in the Neural Filter workspace.

Landscape Mixer (beta) allows you to create new scenes, concept art or whimsical scenes in an instant by combining any two landscape images together. It takes hours of extra effort to create the same effect manually, but this neural filter makes it almost automatic and only takes a little time.

In the picture above, the artist starts with the original image of hikers along the coastline. Using the landscape mixer, the geography is mixed with the desert landscape, and hikers automatically coordinate with the new lighting of the scene.

By mixing the structure and style of the image, multiple scenes are combined into a brand new scene. Use preset images directly available in the filter or use your own images. The effect can be subtle or excessive...crazy!

If you have ever been inspired by images with great colors or tones and want a similar look, then this filter is perfect for you. By transferring the color from the reference to the original image, quickly make the color of an image look like the reference image.

The color transfer uses the image palette and can be easily applied to different images. This is a major time saver for a very common workflow (making this image look like that), and will provide a good starting point to get you closer to the look you want.

Use Adobe Sensei's machine learning magic to match the color and tone of one layer of elements with another. Harmonization Neural Filter intelligently adjusts the color tone and brightness to get the look you want, thus saving the time to create a perfect, realistic composite material.

When we launched Neural Filters last year, we told our customers that because filters are built on machine learning and artificial intelligence, we will iterate the model based on customer feedback and continuously improve the results. We are fulfilling this promise by making major improvements to every neural filter we released last year. Here are some notable changes:

Deep blur is acquiring a new machine learning model that applies a more natural blur to the background and makes the subject more focused. But adding blur alone can sometimes make the effect feel unreal, so we recently added the ability to add particles to the blur to compensate for this. Our goal is to help our customers create beautiful bokeh effects for any image with just one click, and the improvements in this version are a big step towards that goal.

Now Superzoom operates on the entire image. The output is a new document, and the zoom result will be applied anywhere, not just the zoom area in the preview window. For larger zoom factors, processing may take some time, so we also added a convenient progress indicator.

We retrained the style conversion to apply more painterly artistic effects. To this end, we have studied classic masters (Picasso, Van Gogh, etc.) in depth to train models that are more in line with their style. The results of using these presets have been significantly improved.

Last year, we have released multiple updates to the Colorize model, and another update has been released with the MAX version. Now, in just a few moments, you can present black and white images in more vivid and natural colors.

Gradients are a basic tool in many workflows, and with new interpolation options, gradients now look clearer, brighter, and better than ever before. The gradient will have a more natural blend and look more like the gradient you see in the physical world (such as the sky at sunset or sunrise). Three types of gradients can now be used.

Today, we released one of our most important functional requirements: copy and paste vector shapes from Illustrator, such as rectangles, polygons, circles, lines, and compound paths, while maintaining editable properties in Photoshop, such as fill and stroke , Blending mode and opacity.

We also support compound paths, shapes, using pathfinder and clipping masks. In addition, the groups and layers will be pasted into Photoshop as close as possible to those created in Illustrator. When Photoshop cannot maintain the editability of Illustrator, for example, because Photoshop does not support a certain function, we will try to maintain visual fidelity.

Photoshop now supports Apple's Pro Display XDR, allowing you to view your design in the full high dynamic range. The newly released Macbook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch models are now equipped with XDR displays in addition to Apple Pro Display XDR. This helps you see richer colors: black looks darker, white looks brighter, and all the colors in the middle look more like they are in the natural world. Go here for more details to set up your workspace.

In addition, if the connection is correct, Photoshop will display directly on the monitor that supports HDR. Learn more here.

Quickly share your work with clients and colleagues for review, and receive their feedback in the new comment panel in the desktop and iPad versions in Photoshop. Your collaborators will receive a link to your document, through which they can access the document on the Creative Cloud website and post comments, including adding pushpins and notes. This information flows directly to you in Photoshop, so you can view and process the feedback in context.

Receiving and processing feedback about your design without leaving the application can save a lot of time.

The export as function available on Macintosh M1 machines is now the default setting for all desktop operating systems.

Creative Cloud's new Unified Extensibility Platform (UXP) is a shared technology stack that provides a unified modern JavaScript execution environment. Last year, the launch of plug-ins that support UXP in Photoshop was a major update to the Photoshop ecosystem and provided third-party developers with the opportunity to easily build Photoshop plug-ins. Other API and scalability improvements will be released this year.

Discover new third-party plug-ins in Creative Cloud Desktop, you can immediately install and use them in Photoshop, including:

We have been adding plugins, and more plugins are coming soon, including:

Screen updates when moving layers or turning layers on/off are faster than ever, and the more layers you have, the faster you will notice the difference. Speed up the workflow when dealing with large files.

Photoshop now includes improved language support for text layers, providing seamless and unified typesetting support for scripts and languages around the world, including Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi scripts, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean.

By using the unified text engine to improve the language support for the text layer, advanced typography features will be available and combined in the Photoshop text properties panel.

Improved language support for type layers. Highlights:

The paint filter has been rewritten to take advantage of the faster processing provided by the GPU. All the same functions of the filter still exist, but are now faster and more responsive.

Sometimes, the biggest improvement for you is not a new feature. We spent a lot of time this year to reduce the crash rate caused by GPU-related issues. Hope you never encounter these at all, but if you do, these fixes are for you. With the new Photoshop Beta program that I announced in August, we have also increased the speed of providing updates for issues reported by customers.

We have been releasing new features in Photoshop on the iPad, and today we provide some important features that you have been asking for.

For photographers, this is one of the most important plug-ins for the desktop version of Photoshop. Undoubtedly, this is one of our main functional requirements for the iPad version of Photoshop.

Now you can import and adjust original photos from iPhone 12 and 13 Pro (ProRAW) or digital cameras. Edit your images by taking advantage of the powerful adjustments and settings of Adobe Camera Raw.

For more information, please click here.

Non-destructive workflow is the foundation of Photoshop. Now you can convert layers into smart objects so that conversions and filters remain non-destructive.

For more information, please click here.

Use the Dodge and Burn tools to quickly lighten or darken image areas, just like in a dark room. This is the customer's highest requirement for photo retouching and adjustment workflow.
