Private label manufacturer Eagle Beverage will use Danimer Scientific's Nodax PHA for marine biodegradable straws and other product categories in the future.

Bioplastics manufacturer Danimer Scientific, based in Bainbridge, California, recently announced that Eagle Beverage Products, a private label specialty beverage product manufacturer based in Kent, Washington, will use Danimer’s proprietary Nodax PHA (polyhydroxyalkanoate) for fast food The shop (QSR) industry produces biodegradable straws.

After testing by researchers at the University of Georgia (UGA) and the UGA New Materials Institute, PHA is made from sustainable materials such as rapeseed oil to produce a proven biodegradable alternative to traditional petrochemical plastics. Danimer's Nodax PHA has seven TÜV AUSTRIA certifications and industrial and household compostability claims. It is biodegradable in anaerobic conditions, soil, freshwater and marine environments, and is 100% biobased. All Danimer Scientific biopolymers, including its Nodax PHA, are approved by the FDA for food contact.

Eagle Beverage’s QSR customers are expected to purchase these straws in early 2021. After launching straws, Eagle Beverage plans to explore and expand its product range to include compostable food containers and packaging.
