A British company raising awareness of electronic recycling has assembled 1,496 recycled washing machines into a 44-foot pyramid, breaking the Guinness World Record.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Currys PC World (UK) created the largest washing machine pyramid by arranging appliances into a 44-foot 7-inch high pyramid.

A recent survey conducted by the company showed that although local councils, service agencies and retailers provide free collection and drop-off services, about 68% of Britons are still confused about where and how to dispose of e-waste.

Currys PC World decided to create the first record for the largest washing machine pyramid during the National Recycling Week in September 2021.

The pyramid highlights the company's "new life instead of landfill" promise, a plan to give new life to old electronic products through recycling, repair or relocation.

The pyramid has a square base with a side length of 31 feet and 7.5 inches. It consists of 256 washing machines.

The pyramid has no supporting structure to fix it.

Ainscough Training Services provided support and crane safety measures for Currys' attempts.

All washing machines used during the installation process will be recycled.

The record is the idea of Darren Kenworthy, Currys Preston store manager, who persuaded his employer to create the device. The washing machine was intercepted on the way to recycling.

Recently, an Australian man named Neville Sharp broke the Guinness World Record ten years ago with a hiccup of 112.4 decibels. At the age of six, his sister Sandie Hunt taught him to hiccup.
